Caramanico, located at an altitude of almost 600 m, is a privileged starting point for naturalistic and archaeological excursions, an essential destination for the Giumentina Valley (Abbateggio) where, on the banks of a lake that has disappeared, artifacts dating back to the Palaeolithic period have been found. The most interesting finds have found a place in a small museum duly set up within the Visitor Centre of the Valle dell’Orfento Nature Reserve, together with others of a naturalistic nature and that teach us to ‘read’ with competence a cross-section of nature and history of our region. Environmental characteristics, artistic beauties and a beneficial climate of half mountain contribute to make Caramanico an ideal place for hydrological care.
